Han Hyo-joo presents her newest masterpiece in Blood Free
by lovepark
Disney+ has released new character posters and a preview of its upcoming series Blood Free. The sci-fi thriller stars Joo Ji-hoon (Jirisan) as ex-marine-turned-bodyguard Woo Chae-woon and Han Hyo-joo (Moving) as CEO Yoon Ja-yoo. Set in a world where cultured meat takes the public by storm, Ja-yoo’s company Blood Free (also known as BF) ushers in a new age, but with these changes come dissent.
Joo Ji-hoon’s poster shows his character standing in front of a crowd of protesters fighting against BF, and his tagline reads, “The greatest technology returns as a weapon.” Despite Chae-woon working as Ja-yoo’s bodyguard, the poster makes his stance on the issue unclear. Will he be a friend or a foe to our trailblazing CEO?
As for Han Hyo-joo’s poster, her character appears on a 3D billboard with the tagline, “The one who changed the world, now becomes everyone’s target.” It seems BF has disrupted multiple industries, and not everyone is a fan of her work. Exactly why, though, everyone is after her head remains a mystery, but it’s obvious that the world is looking in her direction and waiting to see what she’ll do next.
The latest clip shows a sneak peek of the drama and reveals Ja-yoo’s Christmas Eve presentation of her newest product. As Chae-woon takes a seat in the audience, Ja-yoo steps into the spotlight to a round of applause from all over the world. She explains to her supporters that synthetic meat requires a mere 1% of the land it takes to raise cattle traditionally, and she also points out that cows release more greenhouse gases than a car.
All of these facts are to build up her company BF, which is commonly called “beef.” She notes how appropriate this nickname has become since making meat is what they do. As carts are wheeled into the room, Ja-yoo introduces BF’s new masterpiece.
Written by Lee Soo-yeon (Grid, Forest of Secrets) and directed by PD Park Chul-hwan (Grid), Disney+’s Blood Free is slated for ten episodes and premieres April 10.

When they first announced this, I dropped by MDL and left the witty comment, "Soylent Green is people!"... only to scroll down and see literally dozens of other similar comments. It does have Soylent vibes, doesn't it?

I was going to say great minds think alike, but I don't think that's quite right. I think instead its "minds who have seen terrible Charlton Heston films think alike." While I'm sure soylent green jumped to mind, how many of us were ready to go with a Planet of the Apes alternative: "Its a madhouse. A MADHOUSE!"

The lab-grown meat industry has arrived, last year it got FDA approval. I have not looked if there are any long-term studies about it but since is a new technology (as we are told) it seems highly unlikely that they exist. I wonder if this will turn like the electric cars that were introduced as an alternative at the beginning only to be forced as the only choice upon us later. Just as the electric cars, this technology requires a lot of energy that it is hoped to be 100% renwable at some point. Will it be possible? When it will be? Nobody tells us, we just have to believe them. Both are sold to us because the climate chage mass paranoia has taken over our reason. The farting cow excuse is the most ridiculous lie that has ever been promoted and accepted by the general public. It is scary how well the machine works. The following are paragraphs from an article I will link at the end from people that know about farming more than me:
"Activist groups often blame cattle emissions – or to put it bluntly, cow farts – for climate change. That’s because cows emit methane, a greenhouse gas linked to global warming.
Yes, cow farts make for great comedy. But in reality, climate change – and livestock agriculture’s role – are a lot more complex, Place says.
Cattle and other ruminant animals account for about 4% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, according to the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA).
In comparison, our transportation system — including cars, planes and more — accounts for more than 25.3 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.
Even extreme dietary changes — such as switching to a vegan, all-plant diet — won’t have much impact on climate change and global temperatures, Place explains.
Research shows that removing all livestock and poultry from the U.S. food system would only reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 0.36%, she notes."
"Also worth noting, while methane is a potent greenhouse gas, it rapidly decays in 12 years, Mitloehner says. In comparison, carbon dioxide – released by burning fossil fuels - lasts in the air for hundreds of years."
If you have followed the problems the farmers have had in Europe, they are forced to reduce their productivity or sell their farms because this lie while allowing other industries in transport for example, you maybe will wonder as I am about why this is happening. Just like a farmer said recently in Irland, that he did not understand why this is imposed on farmers but Dublin airoport just got approved to increase the number of flights it can have.
I have also left a Forbes article that tries to "ease" our mind about this blood free industry so that we are not to be scared by it from the beginning and to accept it as it will take a long time until it will become popular. Sure, what about when it will become or sell it to us with carefully made studies?
Needless to say that I am very interested in this drama. I like Joo Ji-hoon and I am curious to see what this...

I don't know them so I will take your word. Yes, everyone is greedy, I agree. But if I look at what they say, these greedy ones make more logical to me than the other ones.
Is this from the same old farts?

On a slightly related note,
How to go vegan in South Korea, a meat lover’s paradise
Tabletop grilling is a way of life in South Korea, where meat is associated with wealth and health. But a growing number of the vegan-curious are trying to reduce their intake.

This was an interesting article, thanks, but its odd that it ignores that Korea actually has a number of really innovative companies producing plant based meat alternatives, but with an excellent reputation in the vegan world. I've had the "Unlimeat korean bbq" which is widely available in groceries on U.S. west coast. It's not bad. And that's my comment PPL for this evening!

My grandpa was a sheep farmer and made a living making sheep feta cheese before the communists came and nationalized all the lands. By 70's the meat was a scarce luxury but soybean salami was plenty for the general population. I and many of my age and older friends have an instant reminder of those times whenever we hear of soybean meat products. Don't want to see it, to touch it and more so, to eat it. We joke a lot how the comunist regime was ahead of its time and that they wanted us to be healthy. And we silence after for a little remembering those times.
But, surprisingly, in my country also now have emerged new varieties, the young new generation is more aware than mine was about saving the planet. We didn't, of course, because we did not polute as much in comunism. We were forced to recycle (as kids were forced to bring a quata of newspapers from home), no plastic bottles because no coca-cola, drinking water from the faucet, had electricity 2 hours in the morning and 2 at night, no travel because no gas and not everyone had cars, etc. You get the idea. Even my kids entertained the idea of becoming vegetarians, to keep up with the modern times. And everytime I fed them the juicest steaks.
I will never try any meat that is grown by a scientist in a labcoat in a lab.

I'll protest against her too. If this type of industry takes off we'll end up eating kibble like our pets. It's a slippery slope starting with bugs and fake meat, and will destroy the farming industry. Bill Gates is buying up thousand of acres of farmland in the US which will never be farmed again. If anyone thinks this will have a good outcome for any of us, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I can sell you!

Speaking of the devil...look what he is up to:
https://www.gatesnotes.com/Alternative-fats-and-oils
Digging further, you will find that eating fossil fuels is what he would like us to do:
https://savorfoods.substack.com/p/behind-the-scenes-of-our-article
When asked how come his plane trips do not add to crbon emission, he said that he spends 9 millions for clean jet fuels. What is that and how is that made? Doesn't matter, he is allowed.
Bezos is on board, also. We have a satelite now that will tell us now where the most carbon emissions come from and he is giving us all this information for free, of course. And he is investing in this industry, his plastic trofee girlfirend tried one and she liked it. There you go, we have her approval. Because they are so interested in the planet. I guess he can do all the polution with all those amazon delivery trucks and planes without any guilt for ever.
